Trip to APs Highest Waterfalls - Kuntala Waterfalls

Kuntala Falls
Me and my family are always in search of some natural and adventurous places. We have been to many places but this is the first time i tried writing blog.

Last week, we got to know about the highest waterfalls of Andhra Pradesh , Kuntala Waterfalls. As usual, naughty Chandan sent me that info and said "Bhabhi, lets go there". We wrote to Vikas (my hubby dear) and we made the plan 1 week later.

The Kuntala falls are located in Kuntala Reserve Forest. The height of main waterfall is 45 Mts.They are found in Kaddam River which originate in Shayadri mountains. The river bed in Kintala Waterfall is smooth and slippery. Gundams are very deep and Water is whirling. Hence swimming in Gundan is dangerous.

Here is the itinerary sent originally by Vikas.
• Departure date and time - 21st Aug, 5:30 AM. (Note: No delays please as we have take into account weather conditions also).8:00 o' clock bfast.
• As per the info provided by chandan, we can reach kuntala falls by 11:00 am.
• Light refreshment on arrival.
• Enjoy sight seeing and waterfalls. Don't forget to carry clothes.
• Lunch in between
• Departure to Hyderabad max by 5:00 pm

Trip Summary

Must: Carry pair of clothes

The Trip day - August 21,2010 (Saturday)

We got up early morning around 5'o clock and gave final touch to our packing (clothes/food/snacks/water/umbrella). We were ready to move out by 6'o clock sharp. Picked up Chandan on the way and headed for our beautiful journey, a Journey full of "BLUE & GREEN NATURE". It was drizzling when we started. Not forgetting to mention that Rainy season is the best season to visit this beautiful place.

The first landmark to catch was “Run way 9” which we hit in 30 minutes and we were on the right straight road – NH7 Highway. Its beautiful 4 lane road where car was just flying. This is first tiem I saw Vikas driving so fast. The route was beautiful with green fields on both sides. We saw lot of Maize fields. We hit the first Toll Plaza with INR 130(return) and second TOLL PLAZA with INR 60(return) and covered Kamareddi (130 kms) , Nirmal (210 kms) and Neredikonda(240 kms) all from Hyderabad.

With Saksh - My sweet son..

We had some dry snaks on the way. Hit NIRMAL(210 kms) around 10.30 and stopped at Locl dhaba for tea. Chandan has brought Aloo Prathas and we had them with tea. Aloo Parathas with tea was "EXCELLENT HEAVY PUNJABI BREAKFAST". Clicked few pics there and started for our journey again to Nelligorda .
Vik , Chandan and me..

Some memoried on the way in these pics......

All in water......It was AMAZING.......

From Nelligorda village, we took right turn under the bridge.Kindly note that it is small lroad with no sign board so check with locals there. It was surprise taking a turn. We saw forest inside. Both sides of the road, it was gush green. We saw fields of Beans(Rajma). It was around 10 kms inside when we saw a checkpost , looked like entrance to waterfalls. Bought the ticket and were asked to park our car there. We just see forest like area around with no clue of waterfalls. Parked our car, took our food and got ready for our adventure. When we entered the gate, we saw a small stall like shop where you can get some dry snacks , water and cold drinks. We started stepping down to the waterfall as we started hearing nice sound of water. With effort of 408 steps, we finally saw a beauituful “HIDDEN NATURAL BEAUTY”, the KUNTALA FALLS.

Couldn't believe our eyes on having such a beautiful place so near.A combination of  big and small stones took us near falls. We just got some pics clicked and got into water, Saksham and Vikas started swimming. Later, me and Chandan also got into deep water with Vikas and Saksham. It started puring. It was feeling like "HEAVEN ON THE EARTH"

Family....
Some memories in falls.....and ofcourse some Romance......

Pochera Falls

Pochera Falls
We were all ready for another adventure for Pochera Falls which is just 8 kms from the main road where we took right for Kuntala falls. You go on teh highway and see a sign board of Pochera falls on lelft. Turn left and it is justg 3.5 kms from there.

We parked our car and walked for just few steps and here we saw a beautiful gift of nature on the earth. The scene was AMAZING...JUST WOW!!!!!

This was little dangerous fallsl where dipping was not allowed but you can go near small falls and get wet if wish so.

We sat on the stones , clicked pics and spend beautiful time before it started pouring again. We rushed back to cars , still wet with rain this time.

Watch 2 extra hands behind..Its saksh :)
Mom-Son......Style hai... :)

Now we were hungry so we started demanding for lunch. We had Rajma and Poori packed. As we could not find any nice to place to stop , spread mat and eat due to rain and sun (one by one), so we stopped our car on the way and had our lunch. Later we topped at Dhabha for tea and started journey back. With lot of games on the way, we finished our journey around 8.30 pm back to Malaysian Township.By the time, we hit Hyderabad, it was puring badly and we just enjoyed beautiful rain adn waether with our hands and head out sometimes..

It was an one day trip , overall enjoyable and memorable. Shared fond memories and experience here.

  2. Heard a lot about this water fall before....this is the best season to visit this place. The only thing missing out from this place is a hotel/resort where we can stay overnight....listening music of water in a quiet night must be an experience.

Thanks Reacha for the writeup....it's informative.
