A quick trip to Warrangal

Warrangal is around 150 kms from Hyderabad. It is part pof tri-city comprising of Hanamkonda, Warangal and Kazipet. It was capital during Kakaitya dynasty.

This was our first long drive in our Loveable Honda City. It was WOW experience with Honda City running at 100 km/hr minimally and it just feel like 40-50 km/hr. Superb Drive!!!!!!

We went on May 7,2011. It was a Vikas friend's daughter naming ceremony. Though it was an occassion, we just changed it to a trip as we heard a lot about Warrangal.

Saksh had gone to granny's place so we both went. Adi bhaia and Chandan accompained us.

The road is average but traffic was bad so it took little more than expected time.We had our breakfast on the way which we packed. As usual, Alloo parathas...

Tried to be King-Queen by sitting on the throne. Yes, our first destination after attending function was Warrangal fort.

It was hot sunny day but the beauty of left outs of Forts were so amazing that we forgot the sun. Here are some pics:

Saw pillars, old templetes, scluptures. It was an example of amazing architecture. Was real hot, so rested in shade for sometime and enjoyed this years old creativity of India.

On to Khush Mahal

It is a beautiful , true master piece and silent trubute
to rich past. This was as audience hall by Shitab Khan , teh governer of Warangal in 16th century. You can go upstairs and watch the complete forts beauty from this mahal's terrace. Soem clicks here:

We were really impressed seeing this old and ancient sculpture of 16th century.
It was slient inside with just 2 men sitting outside to check tickets.
Once, an audience room, converts to much slient history but Warangal tourism has maintained it real well.
Journey continues to Thousand Pillar Temple
The Thousand pillar Temple , built by the Kakatiya ruler, Rudradeva , in 1163 AD is excellent example of indian history.
This is a beautiful sculpture with very rich carved pilars and icons. This is built on 1m high platform on slopes of Hanamkonda hills .

Three Shrines inside the temple are Lord hiva , Vishnu and Surya.

The rock-cut elephants and 6 feet Nandi carved out of single piece of Black Basalt is another attraction of Thousand Pillar temple.

Did some pooja, took some rest and finally came out of the temple.

Started our journey back to Hyderabad as it was getting dark by now. Needless to mention that water and cold drinks were ON due to lot of heat outside.

The traffic was high even in the evening. Took halt on the way to eat something. Though theer was nothign much to offer on the way, but we managed it with a small secent tea shop. We wer back in Hyderabad by 9 pm.

It was fun filled small trip , a bachelor trip after long :). as Saksh is not around.  Though , Warangal is not a great hangout place, but it is superb if you are intersted to see some goos specimens of architecture and Indian history.
